The Monserrate community sits atop a ridge in the Cordillera central mountain range in the southwest departmento of Huila. The single paved roas in the village leade sirectly to a large brick church housing the Virgen de Monserrate, a large statue of a black Virgin Mary.

Our importers, Atlas Coffee, have been working with members of a co-op in the Monserrate community since 2005. They have worked with the farmers to better their entire growing and harvest processes. In 2009, a few members of the co-op, Sr. Lopez included (and pictured to the right), decided to offer Producer Lots of their coffee--essentially splitting from the co-op and selling individually.

Because of the size of the individual farms, coffee quality must be kept at a premimum. While none of these farms carry any certifications, they all meet the criteria of Shade Grown and Organic certifications.
