Thank you, Black Forest
We have made the difficult decision to close our Black Forest location.Our last day of operation will be September 3, 2023.
Since 2018, I have been dealing with landlords who have been hesitant to sign any type of long term lease. The prior landlord wans't sure she wanted to extend my lease because she was looking for somewhere to open her culinary academy, and our current landlord hasn't been willing to discuss much of anything. I haven't had a lease and have been running on a month-to-month setup since the beginning of 2022.
I have been wanting to do a lot of upgrades to the space and add new items to the menu all year, but without a lease it doesn't make any financial sense to make any capital improvements to a building that isn't mine.
So, sadly, it's time to not be in this space anymore.
I do want to be clear on a few things:
Black Forest has essentially been my home for the last 15 years, and I have never seen such a warm and welcoming community as we have up here in the trees. I will miss this tremendously and will do everything I can to support community events going forward.
My dream of running a coffee shop is not dead; it just needs to happen somewhere else now.
